About this blog
This blog is written primarily for folks who consider themselves to be both gamers as well as serious evangelical Christians. I suspect there are plenty of such folks around (and not just in America), but much like myself, we’ve been pretty shy to admit we’re gamers when we’re in Christian company and likewise admit we’re Christian when we’re in gaming company. Probably, most of us had struggled with whether video games are sinful and contemplated whether we should just quit gaming altogether. Possibly, many of us struggle a good deal with video game addiction. I do intend to share thoughts on some of these issues in this blog, but primarily this blog aims to encourage and edify fellow Christian gamers, and to help use our fellow experiences as gamers to point each other towards Christ.
The aim of this blog is not outreach (i.e. a non-Christian will probably find the stuff written here somewhat bizzare), although I do agree there is a great need for Christian gamers to witness Christ to the rest of the gaming population. A great outreach oriented website is GameChurch.com.
My name is Yann Wong, and I am a high school Physics teacher in the city-state of Singapore. I’m also a part-time seminary student in Biblical Graduate School of Theology (Singapore). I have lived in Singapore all my life, except for my 4 years of college, where I studied in Cornell University (Ithaca, New York). I graduated in 2005 with a BA in Physics and Philosophy.
I was convicted by the Holy Spirit that Jesus Christ was my Lord and Saviour in September 2001, one week after the tragedy which was 9-11 (I was living only 5 hours away from NYC then). Since then, the Lord has blessed me with the fellowship and teaching provided by Agape Bible Church (Ithaca, NY) and Grace Baptist Church (Singapore).
I started playing video games on the Micro Genius (a Famicom/NES clone) in the early 1990s, and now I mostly play on the PS3, along with an occasional PC game. I play across a wide range of game genres, but I have a particularly soft spot for turn-based tactical RPGs.
As the composer and singer of the Electromagnetic Spectrum song, I have probably traumatised thousands of school children in their attempt to learn science.
Apart from video games and theology, I am also interested in education issues, tabletop board games, NBA basketball, Japanese language and culture, and percussion music.

Holy Spirit, come abide within;
May Your joy be seen in all I do—
Love enough to cover ev’ry sin
In each thought and deed and attitude,
Kindness to the greatest and the least,
Gentleness that sows the path of peace.
Turn my striving into works of grace.
Breath of God, show Christ in all I do.
